Burn your candle for at least 1 hour each time to help prevent tunneling. On the first use, make sure the wax melts all the way to the edge of the container.
Avoid burning your candle for more than 3 hours at once. Consider having an extra candle ready for when the first one burns down.
Don’t burn the candle down to the very bottom. Stop using it when about 1 cm of wax remains. Burning it all the way down can damage the container.
Keep candles spaced apart while lit to ensure they burn evenly.
Always place your candles on a heatproof surface while burning.
Avoid drafts by burning candles in areas free of airflow from windows, fans, vents, or any flammable items like books or curtains.
Keep candles out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources to maintain their quality.
Let candles cool and harden before relighting them. Even candles need a break!
Store candles in a cool, dry area—avoid storing them in extreme temperatures like a freezer or hot car.
Clean your candles gently with cool water if needed and allow them to air dry before lighting them again.
Keep the wax pool clean by removing any leftover matches or debris.
Wick Care Tips
Trim the wick to 5-6mm before each use, ensuring it’s standing upright. A long wick can cause black smoke, wick mushrooming, and faster burning.
Don’t trim the wick too short, as this can lead to uneven burning and tunneling, a problem all candle lovers are familiar with.
Remove the mushroom top (the little ball at the tip) from the wick before relighting it to ensure a smoother burn. Wick trimmers are great for this task!
Always trim the wick after the wax has hardened for the best results.
Extinguish the candle by dipping the wick into the melted wax using a wick dipper, pencil, or a similar tool to prepare it for the next burn.
Troubleshooting Candle Issues
If the wax is burning unevenly and collecting on one side, adjust the wick back to the center or lean it closer to the side that needs more heat (avoid using your fingers).
Cotton wicks will naturally mushroom over time. Make sure to trim off the mushroom before and during burning if you plan to burn the candle for extended periods.
Black marks on the glass rim can be wiped away with a damp cloth. This may indicate that the wick is too long (make sure you’re trimming it regularly!).
